Most new parents don’t have enough support and connection to others during the first year after expanding their family. You may be facing additional challenges/stressors in addition to the life changing event such as having a child. As someone who had 4 perinatal mood and anxiety disorders during my first postpartum and a divorce/move/health issues during my second I’m here to share my experiences and draw upon my specialized skills to help you flourish through postpartum with greater connection, support, alignment to your core beliefs/values and enhance your relationships.
In this 6 Week New Parent Support Group, I help you to cultivate a deeper self-awareness, tap into your intuition, create healthier relationships both romantic and inter-personal, and examine those negative beliefs all to help you align to your values and beliefs as a parent and individual. You will become more confident in your role as a parent, navigate the challenges of life with greater ease and understanding of the purpose behind the challenges

Each week you’ll join me and other parents with babies in an intimate group setting for compassionate and judgment-free conversations on a specific topic while also having space to realize connection, realize you are not alone, help you to feel “normal”, allow you to express what you’re experiencing/feeling, learn more about support resources, realize that challenges are temporary, to meet new friends and have a community of support.
– 60 minutes of support, connection, understanding each Saturday for 6 weeks from 9-10 A.M. (Six session dates: March 19, March 26, April 2, April 9, April 16, April 23)
– A bottled coffee, bottled water, bottled tea to enjoy each morning we meet
– Join a private GroupMe chat to continue the support outside of group with peers (this is optional and you can opt-out at any time)
– BONUS: A 60 MINUTE PRIVATE POSTPARTUM COACHING SESSION with the group leader, J Kontos, M.S. Counseling (a $60 value!). Here you can go further on exploring what is not contributing to your vision of postpartum and work towards aligning.
The New Parent Support Group 6-Week series educates, empowers and connects new parents (new parents defined as having a child(ren) under one).
Weekly sessions will include skills and knowledge which most greatly encourage a supported, connected, and positive postpartum period. Built into the framework of the group series are practices of deep relaxation, breath work, visualization and mindfulness.
The group leader, J Kontos, M.S. Counseling, will provide tools and techniques for understanding and working with fear, challenges, and difficulties that can arise during postpartum. This ensures that each family is empowered and informed to find what works best for them.
J draws from her personal experiences, her work with postpartum parents since 2019, her Master’s in Counseling, and her experience as a Private Postpartum Coach.
Our groups are 60 minutes (1 hour) in length. The first ~15 minutes is providing information, education, and establishing group guidelines/norms. The next ~45 minutes is “talk time,” in which group members share, provide insight, and connect with one another.
This group is conducted using a peer-to-peer support model and is not intended for those experiencing a mental health crisis. Please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) if you are in need of crisis support or call 911.
Payment is non-refundable, however, if you miss a group, you are welcome to attend at a later date (permitting space is available). Inclimate weather: If the weather does not permit meeting outdoors, the session will switch to a virtual video session.
I attended J’s postpartum support group and immediately felt right at home. There’s a vibe of love and acceptance. It feels like you’re just at the park hanging out with your sisters. Not only was it great to find support and feel validated but it was also rewarding to be able to give support to my fellow Mommas. Parenthood is so hard and everyone needs postpartum support so even if you’re sleep deprived, haven’t taken a shower in days, and are still in your PJs, seek out support with J. She will help you flourish through this very important time in your life.
